Activity 2.3.4 Adding Up to Green - Clarification

I added two videos to Activity 2.3.4 on the LMS.  I can't link them publicly because the curriculum is proprietary.

  • CEA 2.3.4 Planning for LEED
  • CEA 2.3.4 Explanation & clarification (of the activity itself)
I'll give you one more day on this, but we're moving forward with floor plans & bubble diagrams on Monday.  Activity 2.3.4 (conclusion Qs and excel credit request) will now be due Monday night.

Two sites that will help you:

Home Size Adjustment Calculations - The square footage of the house will adjust the credits needed for LEED certification.  Smaller houses need less, and larger houses will need more.
LEED Credit Library - Choose one of the large categories, and choose one credit.  Follow the instructions on the activity.  Watch the video on the LMS if you need help.

3.4.1b Loop Survey

Use the readings you took today to determine the HI and ELEV.

  • BM - Banchmark
  • BS - Backsight
  • HI - Height of Instrument
  • FS - Foresight
  • ELEV - Elevation
HI = BS + (BM or previous ELEV)

ELEV = HI - FS

If you'd like to look through the presentation again, this is activity 3.4.1 Surveying on the LMS

Architectural Feature narrative & optional career project

1.1.4 Narrative & Conclusion Qs
Use Google Classroom to complete and turn in the narrative and conclusion questions for Activity 1.1.4 Architectural Feature.  Write everything on the google doc provided.  It is due by the end of the day Tuesday.  Once you click TURN IN, you'll lose edit rights, so be sure that you're finished.

1.2.1 Career Exploration
Activity 1.2.1 can be found on myPLTW.org; it is a career exploration that I'm offering as an optional assignment.  Its definitely worthwhile, but I'm looking ahead and making sure we haev enough time to design.  It is worth 25 points.  If you choose not to do it, there is no penalty, it won't count toward your grade, and will appear as "No Grd" on the portal.

Great job on the projects!  Check back soon for a slideshow of pics!

Open House

What are we doing?

  • Research into architectural styles.
  • Currently building models of certain architectural features that exemplify a specific style.
