A midterm in 3 parts:
- Multiple Choice - concepts & simple calculations
- Open Response - lengthier calculations and typed responses (similar to conclusion questions)
- Revit Design - construct a simple building using the most common features in Revit
Study Tips
- Quiz yourself. It’s easy to read something and think you understand it. Find ways to test yourself. Redo problems.
- 20 minute study, 5 min break. Studies have shown the brain is able to take in 23 minutes of information on average before it needs to stop, process, and store in long-term memory. Set small goals; take breaks, and reward yourself.
- Study with someone. Explain it to someone else, quiz each other, ask questions. You think more deeply if you have to communicate.
- Ask questions Start figuring out what you don’t know. Get help now. Don’t wait. Cramming the night before does not and will not work. Spread it out. Plan ahead.
- Make a PERSONAL STUDY GUIDE. Processing, summarizing, and re-writing the information goes a long way to remembering and, more importantly, understanding it. It also gives you a quick reference sheet to keep things fresh in your mind.
- Eat, sleep, and be merry. Your brain will not function well if you don’t take care of it. Feed it. Rest it. Relax it. Your brain does not operate well under excess anxiety or lack of sleep. What good will studying do you if your brain can’t access all of that knowledge? As in all things, there is a balance. Now is not the time to sacrifice sleep and breakfast.
